I have a question. Do you think that when a Law Enforcement Officer reports gross misconduct in their agency, their elected officials should respond? In this case, I know of complaints that went to 2 former Nevada State Senators, several former Nevada State Assemblymen, one currently running for the Nevada Senate. They did NOTHING. They turned a blind eye. These folks even reported the misconduct to many local progressive organizations....NOTHING. A law enforcement officer who reported misconducted was prosecuted and thankfully was acquitted. He has faced unfair and unlawful attempts to terminate him which he has dealt with for several years. He's also a decorated Combat Veteran.
Do we REALLY want to deal with law enforcement misconduct and brutality OR is this just a publicity seeking event for some? I can tell you, there are many in law enforcement that would reveal and stop misconduct. However, the Officers AREN'T protected! These Officers often face disciplinary action. There are written policies in place in MOST law enforcement agencies that forbid employees "From engaging in disparaging words against the agency". This is the wall these men and women face.
There are solutions; however, nobody desires to listen. What are your thoughts?
