For nearly 40 years beginning in 1882, the Wickford House on Main St. was a destination for travelers across New England and beyond. Ellen "Mother" Prentice was an authority on our region's cooking and drew national attention when she publicly corrected First Lady Grace Coolidge's corn muffin recipe. This month's edition of the North Kingstown Historic Genealogical Society newsletter features photos and a memoir written by G. Edward Prentice, Mother Prentice's grandson. The inn had a huge impact on the community of Wickford at the time. Read the article here:

Join us in welcoming John Gillooly, award-winning columnist for the Providence Journal, as he presents his debut novel, The Promise of the Class of '64. Best known for his two nonfiction books on local high school sports, Gillooly now turns to fiction with a compelling coming-of-age story that follows a group of suburban New England teenagers navigating adolescence during a pivotal moment in both their own lives and American history.
