I Love Wickford Village

I Love Wickford Village Wickford is a quaint, historic seaside village with plenty to entertain and delight the whole family. And there is always something going on in Wickford.

Come & discover tree-lined streets, water views, 17th/18th century homes, churches and shops. Nestled along the waterfront of Wickford Harbor, historic Wickford Village offers a taste of New England as it was a century or more ago. Its historic homes from the 1700s, churches, gardens and picturesque harbor offer a glimpse of our nation’s early history. Wickford is a thriving commercial village with a wonderful sense of history. Come watch the boats, enjoy lunch at an outdoor cafe, browse through the shops, walk the tree-lined streets and even feed the ducks. Whether it’s the annual Wickford Art Festival in July, the Festival of Lights in December, and Daffodil Days in the spring. Our local businesses invite you to discover their distinctive offerings from around the world and from here in New England. We look forward to welcoming you

Yesterday, our village family awoke to the sad news that our beloved Dale Grogan, who founded The World Store along with her husband Jimmy whom she adored so much and was married to for 43 yrs, passed away quietly after a prolonged illness due to Parkinson's disease.
If ever there was a day to lower the flags to half-mast, today is that day.
Lively conversation with Dale as she held court behind her shop counter with that sassy Boston accent is surely a cherished tradition of so many of us in this community.
For almost 40 yrs, Dale was a Wickford fixture who we came to know and love, cultivating big imaginations and special shopping memories for multiple generations of children.
Serving on the Town Council for numerous terms, Dale was a lifelong environmentalist and nature lover and was quietly instrumental in preserving Rome Point from development among many, many other passionate projects in her perseverance of environmental advocacy.
Calling hours will be held from 4-7PM on Thursday, September 10 at the Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford.
Found these classic newspaper clippings highlighting her days of service to our town for your enjoyment. Such a wonderful trip down memory lane.
Peace and love, Dale. The village simply will not be the same without you, but your memory will always remain! 🌍💔🙏
