WE HEAR YOU! - How the NK Food Pantry can help

In these uncertain times, the NK Food Pantry has made plans to handle the partial funding of SNAP benefits.

Starting in November, the Pantry will be open until 4 pm each weekday for extra shopping appointments. Please call 401-885-3663 to schedule your monthly shopping appointment.

Also, in November and December, the Pantry will be offering pre-made bags of supplemental food to help those affected by the partial benefit funding.

We will continue to send updated information as we receive it from the RI Community Food Bank and other sources.

We are so grateful for the continued support of our community and your patience during these stressful times!

Starting November 1st, the NK Food Pantry has made plans to deal with the potential FREEZING OF SNAP BENEFITS - which start on NOVEMBER 1st.
To prepare for this potential crisis, the Pantry is:
- Purchasing additional food through local grocery stores, retail stores and wholesalers
- Adding food pantry hours during the week to accommodate the need for additional appointments
- Asking volunteers to serve additional hours
- Asking our community to donate additional food items
- Creating additional SNAP Supplement bags of food to help during this crisis

We would like to thank those in our community who have already done a food drive or come in to donate food as well. Your continued support is helping us to help our neighbors in need during this difficult period of time.

This clip shows our receiving area taking shape during the first two months of construction. This is where we will welcome donations and deliveries to the panty. With the added space, we can expand our food storage and options as well as serve more families.

As construction progresses, we are gaining momentum with our Capital Campaign and goal of raising $2.1 million dollars. We will continue to share impact stories and statistics, show behind-the-scenes of our construction, highlight donors, and share how you can be part of this journey.

Capital Campaign

Donor/Foundation Spotlight: Navigant Credit Union Charitable Foundation

We are so fortunate to have such amazing corporate partners for our Capital Campaign and Navigant Credit Union Charitable Foundation is no exception! The mission of the Navigant CU Charitable Foundation is to create lasting impact and promote well-being for all. Our Pantry expansion and renovation proved to be a perfect fit for Navigant's charitable priorities.

Tim Draper, Senior Vice President of the Foundation, shares his thoughts on Navigant's $40,000 campaign gift:

"One of our most important pillars of impact is Social Service, which encompasses the critical issue of food insecurity. We believe that access to nutritious food is a fundamental human necessity. Without it, individuals cannot fully focus, thrive, or maintain mental well-being and happiness. The mission of the North Kingstown Food Pantry is to feed and assist the hungry people of North Kingstown. It is a vital lifeline for the community and the NCU Foundation is proud to partner with the food pantry to deliver on their mission.

When I toured the Pantry earlier this year what resonated with me the most doesn’t really have anything to do with delivering on the mission. I was moved by the way the pantry utilized every available square inch of the current building to store all that they will give to the community. What resonated with me wasn’t so much the mechanics of delivering on the mission, but rather the ingenuity and determination I saw in the pantry itself. I was struck by how every available square inch of the building had been transformed into storage for the food they provide to the community. Shelves filled offices and meeting rooms, embodying the old saying, 'stuffed to the rafters.' It was clear they needed more space and we had to help them get some.

Our inspiration to support the Campaign is simple - the Pantry team has a proven model. They are supported by a community of volunteers and funders who believe deeply in their mission, and with thoughtful, forward-looking planning, the North Kingstown Food Pantry is positioning themselves for long-term success in fulfilling it."

We are so grateful to Mr. Draper and the Trustees of the Navigant Credit Union Charitable Foundation in support of our "Feeding Our Community, Building Hope" Capital Campaign!

Our mission, as a nonprofit organization, is to meet every player at their individual need and deliver a positive experience that challenges their development and growth both on and off the field.

Here is an opportunity for players, families, friends, and neighbors to do some good ON THE FIELD Sunday with an OFF THE FIELD impact- bring some non-perishables or send them with your favorite OSNK players this Sunday!

Another Great Neighborhood Food Drive!

Once again, our neighborhoods are responding to the call. The pantry has been suggesting hosting a neighborhood food drive as a way to help us replenish our pantry shelves. Thank you, Rick, Amy, Sherry and all those who helped to support the Cydot/Barolay neighborhood in this much needed drive. The drive was able to donate much needed food and hygiene products as well as cash donations!

Want to support a great cause as well as gather with some of your neighbors - organize a neighborhood food drive. This is the perfect time of the year as the holiday season is right around the corner!

We are thrilled to show the future of the NK Food Pantry! These renderings show the vision for a larger, more welcoming space where we can serve more folks, expand food options, and even host nutrition classes and cooking demonstrations.

Even better- we’re nearly 90% of the way to our Capital Campaign goal of $2.1 million!

Throughout the next few months, we’ll share some impact stories and statistics, show behind-the-scenes of our construction progress, highlight donors, and share how you can be part of this journey.

Thank you so much to our talented team at Herkworks Architecture, Behan Bros., Inc., Millstone Engineering and all those helping with this building expansion.

We can’t wait to bring this vision to life for our community!
