Friday Greetings,

• A huge shout-out to our City crews—especially the Public Works team—for their extraordinary storm response efforts this week. Staff have worked nearly around the clock clearing storm debris, assessing damage to City trees and public facilities, conducting life-safety evaluations, issuing emergency permits for contractors, coordinating same-day inspections, and responding to resident and business needs following the storm. The Community Development Department identified five residential units with significant structural damage and continues to work closely with affected property owners to help begin repairs as quickly as possible. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork demonstrated by our employees during this challenging week.

• Congratulations to Will Grefrath, Parks Recreation Supervisor and 2026 Leadership Northland class graduate! Leadership Northland is an intensive program devoted to strengthening and educating area business and community professionals, hosted by the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce.

• On Thursday, NKC Police & Fire Departments visited the Children's Learning Center at NKC Health to give the students a memorable experience. Photos attached.

SCAM ALERT

Property deed scams are on the rise, and scammers can target your home's equity by filing fake paperwork. The Clay County Recorder of Deeds offers a free property fraud alert service called Deed Watch, which allows property owners to monitor activity recorded under selected names.

To set it up, register with a valid email address at deedwatch.com, select Clay County, and enter the verification code sent to your email. From there, you can add any variation of your name, a spouse’s name, or any name you wish to monitor.

When a document is recorded under one of your selected names, you will get an instant email alert so you can confirm the transaction right away. Please note that Deed Watch is an alert and monitoring service only. It does NOT prevent documents from being recorded, validate the legality of documents, or replace legal advice. Take 5 minutes to sign up today.

If you have any questions, please call the Recorder of Deeds at (816) 407-3550.
