Remembering Gus Leimkuhler. He was a wonderful member of the North Kansas City Centennial board. In addition to his service on the board, Gus authored a book, “Bridging the Century: The Story of North Kansas City”. Rest In Peace, Gus. You lived a good, full life, but you will be missed. Elizabeth Short co-chaired the 100th Birthday Party Committee (with Shelly Pinto). Gus Leimkuhler presented the book, "Bridging the Century", which he wrote for the Centennial Committee. Mayor Bill Biggerstaff is in the background. 11/4/2012

This may be interesting to you. If you listen closely, you’ll hear the “symphony” created by the old ASB Bridge when the train tracks (lower level) are being raised to create a passageway for tall, approaching boats.

Happened on the ASB as the rail span was being raised. Sounds like an avant garde symphony piece.

Don Stielow created the cake and Bear Kistler helped him build it. Karen Todd did most of the painting, with some help from Glynda Jacobson and Marilyn Karnes (in other photo). Jerry Barham (former NKC council member) helped by decorating the cake. This group devoted hundreds of hours creating the cake and the facade. The Mayor came by to show his appreciation.
