I loved the Laura Ingalls Wilder books when I was younger and they are still popular today.

Rose Wilder Lane, sole surviving child of Laura and Almanzo, was born December 5, 1886 in her parents' claim shanty home near De Smet, Dakota Territory. Rose was the first professional writer of the family, in a career spanning over fifty years. She was a world traveler, journalist, novelist, short story writer, ghostwriter, book translator, and media star of the 1920s and 1930s. Always a dutiful daughter, she periodically lived with her parents on Rocky Ridge Farm. It was here that Rose encouraged and coached her mother as the latter started her own career writing children's books.
