Never leave children, passengers or pets in a parked vehicle. The inside can become dangerously hot very quickly, even when the outside temperature does not seem extreme.

Inspect the vehicle again during stops. CMV drivers should look for tire damage, leaking fluids, hot hubs, loose wheel components, dragging brakes and problems with the load or tarp.

Carry an emergency kit. Include drinking water, phone charger, flashlight, first-aid kit, reflective triangles or flares, tire gauge, jumper cables and basic tools.
