🚨TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE🚨

Both North and Southbound lanes of HAMILTON AV at COMPTON RD, as well as East and Westbound lanes of COMPTON RD at that intersection are currently closed for an undetermined amount of time.

Please use parallel streets (Harrison Av or Perry St) to move around the closed intersection.

Crews are currently working to maneuver an oversized load through a normal-to-small-sized intersection.

We will post again when the roadway has been cleared.

As warmer weather sets in pools and waterways become a great way to beat the heat we want to share some some safety tips-

Drowning happens quickly and quietly. Never swim alone, regardless of skill level.

Have a designated "watcher". This person should be physically capable, not distracted and have no other responsibilities. Have a system for swimmers to check in with the watcher before they get in.

Secure any standing water. Fencing with locks or latches placed above the reach of youngsters. Dumping out smaller kiddie pools when done for the day. Locking and alarming doors that lead to pools when not in active use.

Use US Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Devices (PFD). Puddle jumpers and water wings are not PFDs and can give a false sense of security.

Wear brightly colored swimsuits. Blue, gray, green and black blend into water and background colors making people harder to spot if they go under the surface.

Even at larger pools with lifeguards, always stay alert and aware of members of your party
The more eyes watching swimmers the better.

As we begin National EMS Week and recognize the incredible work our personnel do every day, we want to take an opportunity to help our community more.

Every year approximately 350,000 people experience a non-traumatic out of hospital cardiac arrest, with a national average of 10% survival rate. Early recognition and bystander CPR are critical links to survival.
