I'm sad to say as my time here in Great Lakes comes to an end so does our GLASS/LGBTQS Alliance comes to a close. I will be shutting down our pages in the upcoming days as there isn't a turn over to a new office cabinet or much active support I do apologize in advance but even though I may be transferring doesn't my support for all of you stop.

Good Morning All,

I would like to get some feedback from all of you regarding some things that you want to see happen. What would you like to do as an organization? How may we benefit our community better? Would you like to open our group to all branches? Drop some thoughts in the comments section below and we will see what we can make happen!

For those that were unable to attend today's GLASS Meeting we discussed the newest ALNAV (interim) on the information on Transgenders in the military. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask and I will do my best to answer all questions until a POC at FHCC is identified.

Additionally, we are also looking for those that may have questions, want more education or information about this and future implementations from the ALNAV we'd like you to send us any questions that we may compile to send to the POC out in the big Navy world.

We definitely want to ensure as GLASS and as we are progressing we are getting the education for those around us, get the questions we answered, and especially we are looking out for one another.

Due to a low number of volunteers we will be cancelling our participation in Kenosha Pride, this doesn't stop those interested in going from enjoying the festivities that Kenosha has to offer, but as a GLASS Chapter we will not be traveling and participating. Enjoy your weekends. Be safe, smart, and most of vigilant and observant of your surroundings. Additionally remember, if you need to talk to someone don't be afraid to reach out and get help. Love you all. - YN2(SW/AW) Moore, P. GLASS PAO

Just as I posted out information on the ban being lifted on Transgenders, I wanted to go ahead and put fires out before the questions start pouring out. Naval Station Great Lakes and all tenant commands will be sticking to the current policy till further guidance and policies are put in place. Training will be conducted throughout the fleet and to each service branch. I advise now after talking to the CMC that when proper guidelines are further in play we will go forth with the new lift. Just with anything the ban may be lifted but it takes time for everything to be implemented and training to cover every basis.

Here is the official word from Navy times! Standby for training is all I can say now.

From our former PAO.

"Things seem to be getting a little volatile. Copycats now have the motivations to follow through. (It seems) please advise people in Chicago to be vigilant, but not afraid, and aware when they go to Chicago's Pride Fest/Parade. Fear is their power."

He is 100% correct, we will all need to be on guard and aware of our surroundings when we attend Chicago pride.

A man was arrested in Santa Monica, California with explosives and weapons/ammunitions early today who was planning to attend L.A. Pride. As of now, it is unclear whether there is a connection to the Orlando Mass Shooting.
