Hearing loss is more common than you might think, and it affects people of all ages.

Long-term exposure to loud sounds – from headphones to job sites – can cause permanent damage. And once it’s gone, it doesn’t come back.

Small steps make a big difference:
✔ Lower the volume
✔ Use ear protection
✔ Take listening breaks

Your future self will thank you. 🌟 👂

SAILOR SPOTLIGHT

Welcome to Sailor Spotlight where we highlight some of our amazing Sailors working at NMRTC Great Lakes!

This episode, we say farewell to our Commanding Officer (CO) of NMRTC Great Lakes, CAPT Chad Roe.

CAPT Roe served as our CO since July of 2024 and will be retiring after the Change of Command on June 10, 2026.

CAPT Roe focused a lot on recruit medical readiness during his time here at NMRTC Great Lakes, ensuring that the process to get our recruits back into training as fast as possible is streamlined. As highlighted in the video, he reminds our current Sailors that even with changing leadership, they should keep up the great work with medical readiness across the command.

Fair winds and following seas, CAPT Roe. We wish you good luck for your next ventures.

We're happy to announce Lovell FHCC received a 4-star rating in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ annual Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating report.

CMS’ Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings are based on five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care. A higher star rating, out of five, indicates better performance along these quality measures.

Director Dr. Robert Buckley thanked the Lovell FHCC/Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Great Lakes (NMRTC GL) team for contributing to the rating.

“Receiving a 4-star rating from CMS is a reflection of the dedication our entire team brings to caring for Veterans every day," Buckley said. "This rating underscores our commitment to delivering safe, timely and high-quality care, and we are proud to contribute to VA’s continued nationwide excellence.”

Thank you, all!
