Today we commemorated Earth Day 🌎 with our young friends at Frierson Elementary School on Wadmalaw Island. Commissioner John Smoak educated us on Live Oak Trees 🌳and their growth patterns. We were all astonished by the remarkable growth of the Live Oak we planted 6 years ago compared to the one we planted today. The children will undoubtedly enjoy watching "July" the Oak tree grow during their time at Frierson.

For a decade, the Charleston Soil & Water Conservation District has been a part of SEWE, sharing ways to protect and preserve our natural resources. Their mission is rooted in education—whether it’s planting trees with students on Arbor Day, hosting Soil Health Field Days with local farmers or providing hands-on conservation tips for the community.
