The North Charleston Cultural Arts Department was created by City Council in 1979 to plan for and support the arts and cultural activities throughout the community. The department provides a variety of programs and services that help make North Char

leston a great place to live, work, and play. A vast array of multi-discipline arts, cultural, and history initiatives touch the lives of an average of 95,000 program participants each year, with an additional 200,000 people served through public facilities.

Registration for this month's Creative Arts Workshop closes this Thursday, June 25.

On Saturday, June 27, from 10am-12pm, Jesse Hinson will teach a project-based introduction to bookbinding. This workshop will guide participants through the basics of terminology, tools, and assembly of a 3-hole pamphlet stitch book and how to make a simple “paper bag” cover. Not only will students leave with a completed, covered book, but they will be provided with a step-by-step guide on how to make more of their own at home using affordable or repurposed/recycled materials. No experience is necessary and all materials are provided. Workshop is for participants age 18+.
