🎓 It's hard to believe the big day has finally arrived — Class of 2026, this is your moment! You made it!!!🎉

👏 This final week of school has been all about celebrating this incredible senior class and recognizing their hard work, achievements, and lasting impact on West Essex.

🌅 Senior Sunrise kicked off the week on Monday as students gathered on the turf at 5:30 a.m. for breakfast, yearbook signings, and time with friends as the sun rose on their final days as Knights.

🍔 Senior BBQ followed on Tuesday after graduation rehearsal, with students enjoying a delicious meal prepared by our talented Culinary Arts instructors and students.

☕🎓 Caps & Coffee, a new tradition launched this year, brought seniors and their families together for breakfast, conversation, yearbook signings, and special memories.

💌 During Caps & Coffee, students opened letters they had written to themselves back in middle school, a meaningful reminder of how far they have come. This is the first year we invited parents to join us, and we rebranded it to coffee and caps! It was so special. A fresh take on a beloved tradition. Thanks to the West Essex PTO for generously sponsoring this event!

⏰ And now, in just a few short hours, this outstanding class, one that has truly left its mark on West Essex, will walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. 🎓

🎉 The final weeks of the school year at WEMS have been filled with celebration, reflection, and fun as students and staff look back on an outstanding 2025-2026 school year.

🏅 WEMS recently honored all 7th and 8th grade students who earned Honor Roll and High Honor Roll recognition. Families were invited to attend the ceremony and celebrate their students’ academic achievements.

📚 In the library, Librarian Jenna Maus-Colucci recognized this year’s Library Leaders. Twenty-seven students earned invitations to a special luncheon for their exceptional reading accomplishments, including logging thousands of reading minutes, completing numerous books, earning badges, and demonstrating outstanding library citizenship. Students enjoyed pizza 🍕, received certificates and goody bags, and spent time celebrating their shared love of reading.

💃🕺 The school also bid farewell to the Class of 2030 at the Eighth Grade Semi-Formal at Ravello’s. The evening was filled with laughter, dancing, and great food as students celebrated the end of their middle school journey.

🍦 These events, along with favorites like Wheel of WE and Field Day featuring Mr. Softee, helped make the final days of the school year memorable for everyone.

🏆 What a year for West Essex Athletics! ⚔️ The 2025-2026 school year was filled with championship performances, historic milestones, record-breaking achievements, academic honors, and collegiate commitments. From state champions and undefeated seasons to individual accolades and memorable team accomplishments, our student-athletes and coaches continued a proud tradition of excellence both on and off the field.

🏆 Named a Best Community for Music Education for the 12th year

💻 Technology Education earned NJTEA’s prestigious 100% Club recognition for the 6th consecutive year

🍳 wehsculinary students earned 151 ServSafe Food Handler and 17 ServSafe Food Manager certifications

🖼️ artatwestessex students expanded their learning with a visit to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

🔬 Women in WEHSSTEM welcomed engineers from Picatinny Arsenal, while wehsculinary students explored sustainability at the Pequest Trout Hatchery

🎺 West Essex Regional Bands Symphonic Winds earned Outstanding ratings, Best Woodwinds, Best Brass, Best Percussion, and Outstanding Soloist honors at the NJSMA Region I Concert Band Festival

🥁 The West Essex Percussion Ensemble hosted its inaugural Knight of Percussion event

🎻 West Essex Orchestras students earned a Gold Rating at the NJSMA Region I Orchestra Festival and brought home multiple awards at Dorney Park

🎤 westexchoir earned All-State and Region Choir honors, representing West Essex among New Jersey’s top young vocalists; Christa Rizzo earns NJSMA Choral Service Award

🥇 The Middle School westexchoir earned the 2026 Dorney Park Music Showcase Festivals Sweepstakes Award as the highest-scoring middle school choir of the entire festival season

🎭 Audiences enjoyed outstanding productions of Masquers Of West Essex🎭 Chicago: Teen Edition and WEMS Spotlight Knights Musical Theater Club High School Musical Jr.

❤️ The Board honored retiring employees for their years of dedicated service, celebrated student achievements in academics, athletics, the arts, leadership, and community service, and recognized outstanding accomplishments ranging from National Merit honors and AP distinctions to state championships in wrestling, esports, and boys tennis.

📚 On Friday, June 5, West Essex proudly hosted its annual Move-Up Day, giving students and staff a preview of the upcoming school year. The event provides students with the opportunity to meet their future teachers, learn about next year’s expectations, and feel confident as they transition to a new grade level.

✏️ A special highlight of the day was welcoming our incoming 7th-grade students from Essex Fells, Fairfield, North Caldwell, and Roseland. For many, it was their first opportunity to experience life at West Essex Middle School, tour the building, and meet future teachers and classmates.

👏 We extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated Guidance Department and school staff for their hard work in preparing schedules and ensuring the day ran smoothly. Their efforts helped make this annual tradition a positive and successful experience for all students.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎓 Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community partners, organizations, and sponsors, West Essex High School awarded more than 💲150,000 in scholarships to members of the Class of 2026! 🏆🥇

After months of applications and a thorough selection process, students were recognized during a special scholarship awards ceremony celebrating their hard work, achievements, and bright futures ahead.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all of the donors and scholarship sponsors whose support helps make these opportunities possible for our students.

A special thank you goes to Guidance & Student Personnel Supervisor Lisa Hulse, Counselor Kimberly Greulich, and Administrative Assistant Patty Smith for their tremendous work coordinating the scholarship process and helping ensure the success of this year's program.

On Tuesday, May 12, more than 100 outstanding students from West Essex Middle School were officially inducted into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). 🎓 Membership in this prestigious organization is reserved for students who demonstrate excellence in the five pillars of NJHS: scholarship, leadership, character, citizenship, and service.

The induction ceremony celebrated the hard work, dedication, and positive contributions of each student. 👏 Family members, faculty, and administrators gathered to recognize the inductees and their commitment to academic achievement and service to others.

NJHS advisor Mrs. Kathleen Morrissey congratulated the students on reaching this important milestone and encouraged them to continue serving as leaders and role models within the school community. 🌟 Principal Alicia Angione also addressed the inductees, commending their accomplishments and the qualities that earned them this distinguished honor.

Congratulations to all of the newest members of the National Junior Honor Society on this impressive achievement! 🎉 The West Essex community looks forward to seeing the positive impact they will continue to make both inside and outside the classroom.
