June 4, Holocaust Survivor Day
This special day spotlights Survivors not only as witnesses to history, but as bearers of wisdom whose lives continue to guide communities today. JCC Krakow, Seed the Dream Foundation, World Zionist Organization, Jewish Federations of North America, and UJA New York have been leading the international effort to highlight the voices and legacies of living Holocaust Survivors.
In 2019, Seed the Dream Foundation partnered with KAVOD to establish the KAVOD Survivors of the Holocaust Emergency Fund (SHEF) to address the unmet emergency needs of Survivors. At that time, it was estimated that one-third of the 100,000 Survivors across the US were living in poverty. This year, Holocaust Survivor Day events are taking place in 32 KAVOD SHEF communities across the US.

JFS Middlesex is proud to partner with Seed the Dream Foundation and KAVOD SHEF to celebrate the spirit and resilience of our own 250 Holocaust Survivors living in Middlesex County. On June 2, we honored our Survivors with a special luncheon event at Bnai Tikvah in North Brunswick. Israel activist Rivka Sonts spoke to the group about how their resilience contributed to the spirit, strength and growth of Israel and Judaism today.

Please donate to JFS Middlesex to help care for Middlesex County Survivors as they age into their 90s and 100s.

At JFS Middlesex, we believe strong communities are built on respect, understanding, and support for one another.

We were saddened to learn about the recent theft of an Israeli flag from Giddy's Pizza & Cafe, a valued local business and community gathering place in Highland Park.

In moments like these, it is important to come together and show support for our neighbors. Today, our team chose to support Giddy's by ordering lunch from the restaurant, and we encourage others to support local businesses that help make our community vibrant and welcoming.

Acts that divide us do not define who we are. Our community is strongest when we stand together with kindness, respect, and solidarity.

💙 We are proud to stand with Giddy's and the Highland Park community.

Access to food is essential—and support is available. 💙

JFS Kosher Food Pantries provide shelf-stable groceries year-round to individuals and families in need across Middlesex County. From pantry staples like rice, pasta, and canned goods to baby supplies such as formula and diapers, JFS helps ensure households have access to nutritious essentials.

Support goes beyond food. JFS works with each household to understand their needs and may connect individuals to additional services like counseling, job support, or immigration assistance—helping families move toward long-term stability.

Food is available by appointment, and no one in the community has to face food insecurity alone.
