A few weeks ago a handful of our volunteer squad members participated in Read Across America. Members read to 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classes at John Adams Elementary school and a kindergarten class at Livingston Park Elementary school. We would like to thank our volunteers Capt. Choubey, EMT Juthani, EMT Poonai, Responder Nagpal, and Aux member Vinar taking the time and participating. A special thanks to John Adams Librarian Mrs. Martin and Livingston Park Principal Mr. Dawson for extending the invite to us. Our members wholly enjoyed reading to the kids and can not wait to participate again next year.

Members of North Brunswick Volunteer Fire Company 2 North Brunswick Volunteer Fire Company 3
On behalf of North Brunswick First Aid & Rescue Squad, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to both of your companies for opening your doors to us during the recent snowstorm and allowing us to house an ambulance in your stations.
Your willingness to support us in this way ensured that we could continue providing uninterrupted emergency medical services to our community during very challenging conditions. That level of cooperation and commitment does not go unnoticed, and it speaks volumes about the strength of our shared mission.
Beyond the logistics, what meant just as much was the hospitality you showed our members. You made our crews feel welcomed, comfortable, and truly like part of your firehouse family. In the middle of a storm, that kind of camaraderie and kindness makes a real difference for those working long, demanding hours.
This is a perfect example of how great things happen when we work together. The partnership between our organizations is something we deeply value, and we are sincerely appreciative of your support, professionalism, and friendship.
Thank you again for everything you do for our community and for standing shoulder to shoulder with us when it matters most.

As you’ve likely heard, snow is expected this weekend. NBFARS is preparing with surge staffing in order to operate more effectively in these conditions as winter weather impacts response, on scene, transport, and turnaround times in these less than ideal conditions

We would like to ask the public’s help to keep everyone safe. Please keep the following in mind during this storm:

Road safety and driving:
-Stay off the roads unless travel is essential. The governor has declared a state of emergency if it is a true emergency call 9-1-1.
-Remove vehicles parked on public roads so Public Works can clear the road’s effectively.
-Do not clear snow from driveways into the roadway.
-Fully clear snow and ice from your vehicle before driving.

At-Home Oxygen and medical device users:
-Familiarize yourself with your oxygen and other at home medical devices! before you need them.
-If you have a generator, ensure you know how to safely connect and power your oxygen machine.

Generator Safety:
-Use generators only in well-ventilated areas.
-Never run them in garages or enclosed spaces. Carbon monoxide poisoning is deadly.

Also, if you have not already please ensure you have sufficient supplies (batteries, food, water, etc.) to sustain yourselves and family members in the event of utilities issues and to minimize unnecessary travel .

On Tuesday July 29, 2025 at approximately 8:30 PM North Brunswick First Aid and Rescue Squad (NBFARS) was requested into Plainsboro, NJ to assist Local EMS and Fire partners along with the Middlesex County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and the NJ EMS Task Force in the long arduous task of evacuating The Merwick Care & Rehabilitation Center. Evacuation of the facility was ordered as a result of an electrical malfunction caused by a damaged sprinkler system.

Chief Lisa Grande, Captain Ankit Choubey, EMT Matt Poonai, and EMT Mehda Singareddy responded to the request made by Middlesex County OEM and NJ EMS Task Force with A-10 (utility pickup truck) and our Medical Ambulance Bus (MAB) to assist other responding agencies from across the state to transport nearly 150 patients to 13 different facilities throughout NJ. Our responding members along with countless emergency services professionals worked tirelessly throughout the night to achieve this large coordinated mutual aid event. NBFARS MAB 15 was tasked with transporting patients to a total of 3 facilities in South Amboy, Freehold, and Neptune Township.

As a charter member of the NJ EMS Taskforce and host agency for the Middlesex County OEM MAB 15, we at NBFARS are honored to be an integral part of this statewide and regional response framework. The NJ EMS Medical Ambulance Bus (MAB) Task Force consists of 20 MAB units throughout the state and serves as one of the nation’s largest fleets of Medical Ambulance Buses. Serving in this capacity allows NBFARS and our personnel the ability to assist in responding to Mass Casualty and/or Mass transport events across the state and broader region.

This is just one of the many specialized operations modules which are part of the broader missions here at North Brunswick First Aid and Rescue Squad. Our members are always ready to step up when our citizens and neighbors need it the most. For more information about our services don’t hesitate to visit our website at nbfars.org or call us at 732-545-1024.
