I am humbled and extremely grateful to announce that I am North Brookfield's newest Selectman. Thank you so much to all the great citizens of this town for putting your faith in me. Your support means more than I can express. I promise to serve to the best of my abilities. Rest assured that I will always put the people first and I look forward to working for all of you.

And thank you to Joan Wilkinson Burkhardt for running a great campaign! She shows a true passion for our community!

Today is the big day! I implore you to tell all your friends, family, and neighbors to take 15 minutes out of their day to go down to the Senior Center on 29 Forest street to make their voices heard. This election will determine a lot for our town and your vote matters more here than in any election. So do you civic duty and take charge of your town. You make the difference.

I would like to take a moment to address the elephant in the room. The deficit. Now, some may be quick to blame the actions of those made in the last 4-5 years. However in reality it's been a lot longer than that. More like 15 years. Our budget has been a problem that's very slowly been getting worse as the years went on and frankly, some bad decisions made by local government have been made since even the 70s.

I know this from spending time and working with many people who have lived here and worked for the town for many years who have given me the opportunity to learn from them.

That's not to say bad decisions haven't been made recently, however to lay all the blame for the town's problems in the past couple years is to overlook the town's past as well.

The deficit is indeed a huge problem. However rest assured the town has a lot of very dedicated people working for it who contribute their free time and go the extra mile to contribute and fight for all of you. Currently I am on an advisory board, I've helped where I can and I continue my work as we speak while still campaigning for the Board of Selectman. However if elected I promise I'll do my best to work with the other members of the board to implement real tangible change that the citizens of North Brookfield so desire.

I hope to push back on the fear-mongering and despair and bring together and an attitude of positivity and discipline. If there's a problem we face it head on and run towards the storm, not point the finger and hide.

If you or someone you know plans to vote by mail, make sure you get them mailed out ASAP. Mail can often get delayed, sent to the wrong town, or go missing through the mail stream.

The safest way is to either throw it in the drop box in front of the Town Offices or hand it directly over the counter at the Post Office where they will ensure keeping it in town and be out for delivery next day.
