This past Saturday we held our annual awards and Christmas party. We had a special visit from Santa and a surprise visit from the Grinch! Special thanks to Lyle Goldorf, Matt Yorks and Sarora Yorks!

Fire fighter of the year award went to Josh Evoy.
Outstanding Service award went to Jim Newsom and Brad Sutter.
Best Attendance went to Tom Mitchell.
20 Years of Service (and retirement) went to Mike Sweet
15 years of service to Shawn Manns
10 Years of Service to Tim Reinhardt and Tom Mitchell.
5 Years of Service went to Chris Walker and Mikaela Hosner.

Deerfield Fire Department responded to a scrap pile on fire today at 12:14pm at North Lapeer Recycling. Department’s from North Branch, Columbiaville, Lapeer, Watertown, Addison Township and Lapeer County EMS responded to assist. Crews fought the fire for 6 hours. Thankfully there were no injuries or damage to buildings. We would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work including Lapeer County Central Dispatch and the facility owners and employees for their cooperation!

Lapeer county, this is for your area. Our friends at Deerfield Twp Fire Association installed, and sponsored this location at their fire department along M-24 near Barnes Lake! A perfect southwest view for all incoming severe weather and snow squalls. This camera is now LIVE 24/7 over on our YouTube channel "Michigan Weather Network". 🔥 Fire Prevention at North Branch Elementary! 🔥

We were excited to spend the entire school day at North Branch Elementary teaching fire safety alongside our neighboring departments. It was a great day filled with hands-on learning, smiles, and important lessons for the kids!

This year’s Fire Prevention theme focuses on Lithium-Ion Battery Safety — here are a few quick tips to keep your family safe:
🔋 Use only manufacturer-approved chargers and batteries
🚫 Stop using batteries that are damaged, swelling, or overheating
🏠 Charge devices on hard, flat surfaces — never on beds or couches

A huge thank-you to North Branch Schools and all the departments who helped make the day such a success. Fire prevention starts with education — and together, we’re building a safer community!
