Valley temps are expected to rise this weekend through Monday, but the Snoqualmie River will be as cold as ever. After this winter's flooding, submerged logs, rocks and other hazards have moved, changing familiar shorelines. Please take care as you cool off!

๐ŸŒก๏ธ Temps Are Rising โ€” Stay Safe Near the Water This Weekend and Beyond

With temperatures expected to climb significantly over the coming days, the Cities of Snoqualmie and North Bend are urging residents and visitors to use extreme caution near rivers, lakes, and waterways. Despite the summer-like heat, mountain-fed rivers in the Snoqualmie Valley remain dangerously cold and fast-moving.

Even experienced swimmers can be caught off guard by cold-water shock. When a person enters cold water, muscles can seize and breathing becomes involuntary and rapid โ€” significantly increasing the risk of drowning. Combined with a strong current, cold-water incapacitation can be deadly within minutes.

In addition to cold temperatures and swift currents, submerged hazards such as logs and rocks pose serious risks, including the danger of tripping and becoming trapped.

A few quick reminders:
๐Ÿฆบ Wear a life jacket โ€” even strong swimmers benefit
๐Ÿ‘ฏ Never swim alone, and let someone onshore know your plans
๐Ÿ‘€ Keep young children within arm's reach at all times
๐Ÿšซ Avoid alcohol/drugs near water
๐ŸŒŠ Know river conditions before floating or swimming

The Snoqualmie Splash Pad and Si View Community Center pool are great family-friendly options to beat the heat.

As daylight lingers and warmth returns to our mountain town, many residents are concerned about the safety hazards e-bikes, e-motorcycles, and e-scooters represent to other drivers and pedestrians due to their rapid acceleration and high speeds.

06/10/2026

An infrastructure and pedestrian connectivity project in the Silver Creek neighborhood is expected to wrap up this month, with final paving scheduled for Thursday, June 11 and Friday, June 12.

๐Ÿ›‘ Beginning Thursday, crews will pave on E 5th St and E 6th St, between Ballarat Ave N and Main Ave N, and Main Ave N between E 6th St and E 4th St with road closures occurring throughout the day.

๐Ÿ›‘ On Friday, crews will pave the intersection of E 4th St and Main Ave N. During this time, the intersection at E 4th St and Main Ave N will be closed to traffic. Detours will be in place.

Now nearing completion, E 5th St, E 6th St and a portion of Main Ave N have:
โœ” Curb, gutter, sidewalk
โœ” A new watermain
โœ” Nuisance flooding has been reduced with the addition of drainage swales, stormwater catch basins and a storm pipe network
โœ” A portion of Main Ave N near the intersection with the Snoqualmie Valley Trail has been lowered to increase sight distance and enhance pedestrian safety

Thank you for your patience and understanding as work wraps up on this important local project.

Community met up with Mayor Miller this morning, with spring rain and mountain views at Arete Coffee.

Casual events like this one provide a comfortable opportunity to talk about local issues you care about most, and this month, that included road sign maintenance, the Art Off the Rails festival (June 20), battery storage facilities and zoning, and North Bend veggie gardens.

Weren't able to make it? Mayor Miller will host one more ๐˜”๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต ๐˜œ๐˜ฑ this evening (June 9), from 5 - 6 p.m. at Volition Brewing.
