Mayor Miller and members of the American Legion Post 79 led a Remembrance Ceremony this morning, commemorating 25 years since the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York City, the attack at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania after passengers attempted to retake control of the plane.

Speakers included American Legion Post 79 Commander Chad Magendanz, Lieutenant Commander George Townsend, Eastside Fire and Rescue Fire Chief Will Aho, Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D., Representative Zach Hall, and King County Council Chair Sarah Perry.

Eastside Fire & Rescue staff assisted in dressing the wreath, kindly donated by community for this day of remembrance.

In honor of the fallen, American Legion Post 79 Honor Guard Commander Art Farash led the flag lowering ceremony, with Community and Economic Development Director James Henderson assisting by lowering the flag to half-staff.

Community is encouraged to stop by the North Bend City Hall on September 11 and throughout this weekend, to see the wreath, with space to reflect and honor those who have fallen. City Hall is located at 920 SE Cedar Falls Way.
