📅 One week from today — May 6 — is Primary Election Day!

🗳️ Don’t forget: Issue 9 will be on the ballot. This is the proposed fire levy.

Here’s what you need to know: 🔥 The levy on the May ballot is for 4.5 mills. If passed, it will help maintain fire department services while continuing the current funding model — with the township's general fund still covering fringe benefits, as it has for many years.

📉 Last November’s proposal was different — it aimed to make the fire department financially self-sufficient with a 6.5-mill levy (a renewal of the existing 3.5 mills plus an additional 3 mills). That levy was not approved by voters.

👉 The May levy is a scaled-back version focused on sustaining current operations, not full financial independence.

🚨 Fire Station Closed 🚨

April 8th Station 70 is Browned Out 0600-0600. This is due to lack of funding from a failed fire levy in November of 2024. Vote yes on May 6th!! For more info visit https://www.miamitownship.org/fire-levy-info

What are the consequences if the levy does not pass?

The fire department lost $920,000 in November when the levy failed. If the upcoming levy does not pass there will likely be a permanent station closing, the potential closure of a second depending on staffing, and there will be layoffs to include both part-time staff and full-time staff.

How do we staff our stations?

There are 3 fire stations that service Miami Township and the three Villages. The daily staffing will range from 6 firefighters up to 13 firefighters. Minimum staffing was reduced from 9 to 6 when the levy failed in November.

Today, April 4, 2025, the Colerain Fire and EMS family solemnly remembers Captain Robin Broxterman and Firefighter Brian Schira, who gave their lives in the line of duty seventeen years ago on April 4, 2008. Their sacrifice stands as a testament to the honor and selflessness that define our calling. We hold their memory in the highest reverence, forever grateful for their service and the enduring legacy they leave within our ranks and beyond.
