NATECH named 2022 SBA Pacific Northwest Region Small Business Subcontractor of the Year!!

It is with great sadness that we share with you today the passing of John Williford, co-founder of NATECH. He was surrounded by family and went peacefully. Much like many of you, John had a distinguished career serving the military and federal government. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1976, retiring at the grade of Chief Master Sergeant, working in the Aircraft Control & Warning System (ADC), PACAF and HQ NORAD (SPACETRACK). After his military retirement, he went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Electronics Technician, working first on the ARSR1D (Long-Range Radar) and then transferring to NAVCOM. He moved his family to Alaska working in remote locations such as Cold Bay and Bethel, served as a Sector Manager of the North Alaska AFS in Fairbanks, and retired as Manager of the Systems Maintenance Engineering Branch in Anchorage in 1993. After his second government retirement, he worked for Lockheed Martin Corporation (assigned to the original NISC Contract – we are now waiting for the award of NISC IV 30 years later). John and his wife Wanda founded NATECH 25 years ago so that he could continue his service to our country as a small business owner by finding the most talented people to put on contract. He was always so proud of the work that you all do for our company and for our country. John’s wife, Wanda Williford, remains owner of NATECH and is supported by our family leadership team, Wendy, Jacquie, Vicki, and Cori.

Do you remember what you were doing 25 years ago? July 25, 1995 Wanda and John Williford were starting a company, then known as HAL Enterprises, now known as Native American Technology Corporation (NATECH). Our first contract was with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for $9,999.99 because that was the limit of what they could spend on a credit card. A few years later we entered SBA’s 8(a) program and got our first big prime contract with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – a contract we still hold today (now as a subcontractor since we graduated from the 8(a) program). Shortly after, we received our first U.S. Army contract working on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. 25 years later, John and Wanda’s daughters and granddaughter are managing the business with ~80 full-time staff and ~100 part-time on-call supporting these same Federal and DoD agencies as well as others all across the country.

With many NATECH employees working from home, we are hearing a lot more noises on our telephone conversations from their new co-workers (many of the four-legged varieties).. NATECH employees - let's see the pets who are keeping you all company and sad that you will have to return to the office one day!

Our corporate offices are open and running to include our Lakefront office in Oregon, our Mobile HR office in Arizona, and our Virginia Country office (please excuse the lawn - a work in progress).

A large part of NATECH’s workforce are veterans. To those who have served in our Military - thank you. To all, we hope you all have a nice relaxing memorial day weekend. The Small Business Administration, Portland District, has selected Native American Technology Corporation (NATECH) as their 2019 Family Business of the Year. Owners John and Wanda Williford, with their daughters Wendy Garcia (NATECH VP, CFO) and Jacquie Armstrong (NATECH VP, Director of HR) and Granddaughter, Cori Kelly (NATECH President) will accept this award in Portland at a ceremony in May held in conjunction with National Small Business Week.

Since 1963, National Small Business Week has recognized the outstanding achievements of America’s small businesses for their contributions to their local communities, and to our nation’s economy.

Headquartered in North Bend, Oregon, NATECH provides professional and technical staffing services, primarily in the federal aerospace and defense sectors. Core capabilities include a wide range of disciplines including program/project management, business and financial solutions, training, safety, facilities, engineering, logistics and information technology. NATECH provides this diverse portfolio of services anywhere in the United States and currently have personnel working in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Texas, Virginia, Oklahoma, and Maryland.

The last three years has seen significant expansion of the company as they add new customers to their base including Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the Washington DC National Guard, General Dynamics, Veracity Engineering, BAE Systems, RiverTech, and Belcan/Schafer while still successfully executing contracts with our legacy customers including the US Army, the FAA, the EPA, Leidos and Northrop Grumman.
This growth resulted in the company doubling in size in 2018 from 35 employees to 70 employees by the end of the year.

NATECH is pleased to announce an expanded catalog of services under our GSA Professional Services Schedule (PSS) (Contract -23F-056BA). In addition to Financial and Business Solutions, we can now provide our customers with Mission Oriented Business Integrated Services (MOBIS) including Integrated Consulting Services, Training Services, Acquisition Management Support, and Integrated Business Program Support Services. Accompanying these expanded service areas are an additional 20 new labor categories (all with senior, mid, and junior levels) enabling us to better meet any of our customer’s unique requirements.

Native American Technology Corporation (NATECH) is pleased to announce that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has awarded NATECH a contract to provide Management, Administrative, and Technical Support Services for the NOAA Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (OCAO) Western Regional Center. We will provide Project Management, Change Management, Organizational Support, Budget/Financial Management and Meeting support for the implementation of a new business model for campus management of services and functions.
