Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer — it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who gave their lives protecting the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As we gather with family and friends today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

🇺🇸 We remember. We honor. We thank you. 🇺🇸

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of retired Sergeant Shane McKenna this past Monday, May 11 2026. Sergeant McKenna served over 30 years with NAPD, the majority of which was on the overnight shift leading and shaping generations of junior officers throughout his career. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sgt McKenna’s family during this difficult time.

Known for his love of his children, the game of golf, Irish music, and his ability to talk any dog off of a bone, Shane was a “cop’s cop” who dedicated his career to serving his community with honor and distinction. To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement.

Rest Easy Sarge… we have the watch from here.

“May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.”

On May 5 members of our department enjoyed a plethora of delicious Mexican foods that were dropped off by members of the Community School PTO in honor of Cinco de Mayo! These foods were in fact delicious, and promptly consumed which has forced us to produce a visual representation of what was present at the time. (An empty table would be a boring image.) Thanks again to our wonderful community members for the food and support!

It is with our deep sorrow that our department mourns the loss of Massachusetts State PoliceTrooper Kevin Trainor who tragically lost his life in a wrong-way motor vehicle crash earlier this morning.

This profound loss is felt not only within the Massachusetts State Police, but across the entire law enforcement community. It serves as a solemn reminder of the dangers officers face each day and the extraordinary sacrifice that comes with the badge.

On behalf of every member of our department, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Trooper Trainor’s family, loved ones, friends, and fellow Troopers. Our thoughts are with you, and we stand beside you in grief and steadfast support during this incredibly difficult time.

We will forever honor this Trooper’s service and sacrifice.

It is that time of year again! There are multiple construction projects ongoing throughout town as this spring’s detour season kicks off. Please use caution around traffic detours as the work progresses.

The Elmwood water project is currently running a lane shift in one direction heading towards Mt Hope St with traffic heading towards the YMCA detoured on to Mt Hope St.
