25 years ago today, The North Arlington Fire Department was dispatched to respond to the World Trade Center and to the site that is now known as Ground Zero to assist our fellow firefighters from the FDNY. Our firefighters spend 5 days assisting with search and rescue operations, searching for victims in the debris. 25 years later, we do not forget the sacrifice that so many men and women made on this day, and we remember the lives lost during this unforgettable tragedy. May they continue to rest in peace. 🙏

Today, the North Arlington Fire Department officially donated our retired Engine 6, formerly Engine 2, to the people of Sosúa, Dominican Republic.

Engine 6, a 1993 Pierce pumper, proudly served the residents of North Arlington for more than 30 years as a front-line apparatus, reserve apparatus, and even temporarily with the Kearny Fire Department during times of apparatus shortages. Over those three decades, Engine 6 became part of countless memories for both past and present members.

While the officers and members of Schuyler Engine Co. #2 will miss her, we are grateful that Engine 6 will continue serving and protecting another community. Her legacy will not be forgotten.

Several members of Schuyler Engine Co. #2 also traveled to Sosúa to assist with the transition and help train local firefighters on both the previously donated PPE and their new fire engine.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the mayor and council for authorizing this donation and giving Engine 6 the opportunity to continue serving others. We also want to thank our friend Felix, Lt. Jenny Lok, and FF Joe Cubero for helping coordinate both this apparatus donation and past PPE donations.

Finally, thank you to Engine 6 for 30 years of dedicated service and for helping keep the residents of North Arlington safe throughout your career.

The North Arlington Fire Department responded into Belleville over the past two days for a large warehouse fire which expanded into multiple units and neighboring buildings and homes. Yesterday, Rescue 5 assisted with search/rescue, overhaul and hose operations while today Engine 1 participated in a hose relay to get water pressure where needed to keep fighting the fires that are still burning in the area of Cortlandt Street. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this incident.
