North Andover Public Schools Announces Karen Butkovich as Next Principal of Anne Bradstreet Early Childhood Center
North Andover, MA — North Andover Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Butkovich as the next Principal of the Anne Bradstreet Early Childhood Center (ABECC), effective July 1, 2026.
Mrs. Butkovich currently serves as ABECC's Special Education Program Coordinator and brings more than twenty years of experience in education, special education, and program development. A licensed Special Education Administrator and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), she has dedicated her career to supporting young learners and creating inclusive educational environments where all children can thrive.
For the past two years, Mrs. Butkovich has worked closely with ABECC students, families, and staff, overseeing preschool and kindergarten special education services and supporting the school's mission to provide strong foundations for learning and growth.
The appointment follows a comprehensive search process that included educators, family members, School Committee representation, and Central Office administrators. Throughout the process, stakeholders emphasized the importance of selecting a leader who understands early childhood education, values collaboration, and is committed to supporting both students and staff.
"Karen's experience, leadership style, and deep understanding of early childhood education made her an exceptional candidate for this role," said Superintendent Pamela Lathrop. "Just as important, Karen has already established meaningful relationships within the ABECC community and has demonstrated a genuine commitment to the students, families, and staff she serves. She understands the unique role ABECC plays in a child's educational journey and is well positioned to build upon the many strengths that already exist within the school."
During the interview process, Mrs. Butkovich spoke passionately about the importance of early childhood education and the opportunity educators have to shape a child's first school experiences. She emphasized the value of strong relationships, open communication, collaboration, and supporting the whole child.
North Andover Public Schools will offer opportunities throughout the summer for families and staff to meet Mrs. Butkovich in her new role and learn more about her vision for the future of ABECC.
