Myth or fact?

❌ Myth: People who drink alcohol during pregnancy don't care about their baby.

✅ Fact: There are many reasons someone may drink during pregnancy, including not knowing they're pregnant, not knowing the risks, or needing support to stop drinking.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approaching these conversations with compassion rather than judgment can help connect people with the information and support they need.

By sharing accurate information and breaking the stigma around alcohol use during pregnancy, we can help prevent Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs) and support healthier pregnancies and brighter futures for children and families. 💙

25 Years Later, We Remember.

On this National Day of Service and Remembrance and Patriot Day, we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and hold in our hearts the families, friends, and communities forever changed by that day.

We pay tribute to the courageous first responders and everyday heroes who risked—and, in many cases, gave—their lives to help others. Their extraordinary bravery, sacrifice, and selflessness continue to inspire us 25 years later.

Today, and always, we .

❤️🤍💙

Today is International Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day. 💙

Observed every year on 9/9, this day highlights the importance of preventing FASD while raising awareness and supporting individuals and families living with its effects.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), FASD is 100% preventable. By sharing accurate information and encouraging alcohol-free pregnancies, we can help prevent FASD and promote healthier futures for children and families.

Join us today, and every day, in spreading awareness, education, and understanding about FASD.

Can alcohol affect a baby at any point during pregnancy?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the answer is yes. Alcohol can affect a baby's development at any stage of pregnancy because the brain and other organs continue to develop throughout all three trimesters.

The longer alcohol is consumed during pregnancy, the greater the risk of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). For example, according to the CDC, using alcohol during the first and second trimesters is associated with a more than 60x increased risk of FASD.

There is no known safe amount, safe time, or safe type of alcohol to consume during pregnancy. Choosing not to drink during pregnancy is the best way to prevent FASD.

If you have questions about alcohol use during pregnancy, talk with your healthcare provider. It's never too late to have that conversation.

What is FASD?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) refers to a range of conditions that can occur when a baby is exposed to alcohol before birth. These conditions can affect brain development, physical health, learning, behavior, and overall development.

The effects of FASD vary from person to person and may have lifelong impacts on learning, memory, attention, behavior, growth, and physical development.

While there is no cure for FASD, early diagnosis, intervention, and supportive services can make a meaningful difference and help individuals reach their full potential.

During FASD Awareness Month, let’s increase understanding, reduce stigma, and promote prevention and support for individuals and families affected by FASD. 💙
