For nearly three decades, Dr. Mark Thomas has been a cornerstone of music education at Upper Perkiomen High School.

As a multiple Grammy-nominated musician, internationally recognized conductor, accomplished composer, and dedicated teacher, Dr. Thomas has spent a lifetime sharing the power of music in the very school district that helped shape his own journey.

In collaboration with Upper Perkiomen School District, we are proud to share this video honoring Dr. Thomas and his extraordinary contributions to music education, his community, and countless students whose lives have been enriched through his work.

His story is a reminder that some of the most remarkable journeys begin within the hallways of our schools, and have a lasting impact well beyond graduation.

Last week, our EnVision students had the opportunity to welcome back Mr. Don from the Philadelphia Bee Company to our Horticulture Lab at the Discovery Center for an immersive, hands-on bee workshop.

Mr. Don shared a wealth of knowledge about bee diversity and guided students through engaging discussions on the honeybee lifecycle, behavior, conservation efforts, and honey production. He also emphasized the vital role bees and other pollinators play in sustaining our ecosystems and food systems.

This morning, we had the honor of welcoming Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon along with representatives from Black Lightning Farm and WIC for a free produce distribution event.

Throughout the week, our Head Start students across Montgomery County will receive produce bags filled with locally grown fruits and vegetables, helping ensure more families have access to high-quality food.

Made possible through a one-time nutrition grant, the event highlighted the importance of programs like WIC, which provide eligible families with healthy foods at no cost, as well as the role of proper nutrition in child development, school readiness, and overall family well-being.

We’re proud to continue advocating for greater access to fresh, nutritious food for all families. A big thank you to Congresswoman Scanlon, Black Lightning Farm, WIC, Shady Maple, and our dedicated staff for helping make this event possible!

We were thrilled to be joined by Dr. Tiffany Hogan, who led a full-day professional learning session for more than 100 K–12 teachers, administrators, instructional coaches, and related service providers on Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and dyslexia.

Examining the language basis of reading through a developmental lens, Dr. Hogan guided participants in exploring how reading comprehension depends on both word recognition and language comprehension.

Participants also engaged with evidence-based approaches for early identification and intervention, with particular emphasis on strengthening the often-overlooked language comprehension side of literacy instruction.

Thank you to Dr. Hogan for leading this impactful day of learning and collaboration!
