Deputies Xavier Harrison-Oliver and Brooke Spence had the pleasure of meeting with dozens of prospective recruits today at the Philadelphia Law Enforcement Hiring Expo in Southwest Philly.

Job seekers from all walks of life stopped by to learn more about career opportunities with the Montgomery County, PA Sheriff’s Office and other local and regional law-enforcement agencies.

Special thanks to Reliant Hiring Solutions, the event organizers, and the welcoming staff at Embassy Suites by Hilton Philadelphia Airport for hosting a great event.

An incredible community effort came together in just three weeks to move the Montgomery County 9/11 Memorial from the Emergency Operations Center to its new home at Elmwood Park in Norristown—just in time for this year’s September 11 observance.

The project was a true partnership between Montgomery County, Norristown Borough, local municipalities, first responders, building trades, and area businesses. Through donated labor, materials, and resources, an impressive team effort made it happen.

Members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit proudly took part in the procession that led the memorial on its journey home.

Sheriff Kilkenny was among the many dignitaries present as county Commissioner Jamila Winder, Commissioner Tom DiBello and Norristown Council President Rashaad Bates lauded the local unions, first responders and community leaders who banded together to make it all possible.

The memorial will serve as a permanent place to honor those we lost on September 11 and remind future generations that we will never forget.

INCIDENT ALERT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Fatal Incident During Warrant Service
HARLEYSVILLE, Pa. — On Tuesday, Aug. 18 at approximately 11:15 a.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies were attempting to serve a failure-to-appear warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Danielle Drive in Lower Salford Township.
Through visual contact Deputies determined that the subject, identified as Raymond Cleary, was inside the residence. After the subject failed to respond to deputies at the door, they heard what they believed to be a gunshot coming from inside the residence and proceeded to take cover.
After repeated attempts to contact Mr. Cleary went unanswered, Central Montgomery County SWAT joined deputies in an operation that breached and cleared the residence, subsequently locating Mr. Cleary deceased in an upstairs room.
The incident remains under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

It’s long time until Christmas, but early August is certainly the most wonderful time of the year for community engagement with law enforcement as National Nights Out occur across the country.

In Montgomery County, Abington Township kicks off the festivities with a pre night out celebration featuring law-enforcement agencies, civic leaders, social services, local businesses, and the local residents who are the fabric of our community.

The MCSO is honored to participate in several national nights out this year and had a blast meeting and greeting everyone in Abington. Sheriff Sean Kilkenny joined other row officers and dignitaries, including Rep. Ben Sanchez, DA Kevin Steele, Clerk of Courts Lori Schreiber and Protonotary Noah Marlier among others.

Abington’s special night was capped off by an appearance from hometown honoree and former Montgomery County commissioner and Pa. Attorney General, Governor Josh Shapiro.

Thanks to all the organizers, volunteers and agencies that made this national night out kickoff such a success!

⚠️ SCAM ALERT: Beware of Jury Duty Phone Scam Targeting Montco Residents, Asking for Payment in Crypto

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and Sheriff’s Office are warning residents about a scam in which callers impersonate Montgomery County Deputy Sheriffs and claim victims missed federal jury duty or have another court-related issue.
Scammers are using spoofed 610 phone numbers, claiming residents owe money, and threatening arrest if payment is not made immediately. Victims are often directed to stay on the phone while traveling toward the courthouse, then instructed to deposit thousands of dollars into a Bitcoin ATM.
Remember:
🔹 The Sheriff’s Office will never call and demand money.
🔹 No legitimate court or law enforcement agency accepts payment through a Bitcoin or cryptocurrency ATM.
🔹 Missing jury duty cannot be resolved by paying money into a Bitcoin kiosk.
If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately, call the Montgomery County Courthouse at 610-278-3000 and ask for the Sheriff’s Office to verify any information. Report scam calls to the Montgomery County Detective Bureau at 610-278-3368.

Last night, the Pennsylvania Sheriffs Association held a special President’s Banquet honoring the dedication and commitment of sheriffs’ offices across the Commonwealth at their 103rd Annual Conference.
Montgomery County Sheriff Sean Kilkenny and Chief Deputy Adam Berry joined dozens of sheriffs, chiefs, past PSA presidents, and honor guard members from across the commonwealth —including our own Deputy Todd Cappiello—for an evening recognizing the important work and unique role of sheriffs' offices in law enforcement and public safety.
Kudos to Cumberland County Sheriff Jody Smith, Franklin County Sheriff Ben Sites, and their respective offices for putting together such a fabulous event.
