Today we recognize and celebrate Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day.

Earlier this week, Montgomery County officials and community members gathered at the courthouse for the annual Juneteenth flag-raising ceremony. Attendees listened to a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation, enjoyed musical performances, and viewed the winning entries from this year’s Art & Poetry of Freedom Youth Contest.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom, more than two years after the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation. It serves as an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, celebrate freedom, and reaffirm our shared commitment to liberty, equality, and justice for all.

Congratulations to Montgomery County Drug Treatment Court on celebrating its 20th anniversary!

This June marks the program’s 200th graduation ceremony, with 892 individuals having successfully completed the program since its inception. Drug Treatment Court exemplifies the power of second chances by providing participants with a pathway to recovery, accountability, and long-term success.

We congratulate Judge Steven O’Neill for his leadership and recognize the dedication of the treatment court team, service providers, and community partners whose hard work continues to transform lives every day.

Last week, the Montgomery County Clerk of Courts Office joined Rep. Matt Bradford’s Senior Fair at Meadowood Senior Living.

We enjoyed meeting so many community members and having conversations about how the Clerk of Courts Office fits within the court system, court records, expungements, record sealing, and other services available through our office.

Thank you to Rep. Bradford for the invitation and to Meadowood for hosting this wonderful event. We are always grateful for opportunities to connect with Montgomery County residents and share resources that help make our courts more accessible and understandable.

Yesterday, the Montgomery County Clerk of Courts was proud to join the Pride Flag Raising at the West Norriton Township building in celebration of visibility, inclusion, and acceptance for all members of our community.

Clerk of Courts Lori Schreiber had the honor of speaking at the event, which also featured a special 200-foot section of a 1,000-foot Pride flag provided by Philly Pride 365 that will also appear at Philly Pride celebrations this month.

Raising the Pride flag is more than a symbolic gesture it is a visible reminder that everyone deserves dignity, respect, and the freedom to live authentically.

We invite the community to join us later this morning for another Pride Flag Raising at the Montgomery County Courthouse. 🏳️‍🌈
