WRC Domestic Violence Shelter 405 701 5497
Since 1980, the WRC Domestic Violence Shelter has provided safe, temporary housing for women and their children who have been victimized by domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking. Residents receive individual and group support, DV education, advocacy, information and referral on housing, job training, legal aid and financial assistance. They als

o benefit from the understanding and support of the staff and other residents. Domestic Violence Crisis Line 405 701 5540
Callers receive confidential crisis intervention, referrals, and information about domestic violence, at any hour of the day or night, 365 days a year. Children's Program
Children's needs have often been overlooked in the family's battle to survive violence and homelessness. Advocates at the shelter focus attention back on the children to provide them with support and hope, and to try to strengthen the mother's ability to parent in stressful situations. Through individual and group contact with families, the Advocates seek to bolster self concepts, develop coping skills and refer to necessary services in the community. There is discussion about the dynamics of domestic violence and encouragement to let go of the family keeping secret. Children are invited to use play and act as a way of communicating feelings and are accepted as they do so. Sexual Violence Crisis Line 405 701 5660
Callers receive confidential crisis intervention, referrals, and information about sexual violence, at any hour of the day or night, 365 days a year. Rape Crisis Center
The Rape Crisis Center offers a 24 hour 7 day a week crisis intervention, advocacy and support for women, men, and adolescents who have been victimized by sexual violence. The Rape Crisis Center has available Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (S.A.N.E) who
have completed training as forensic nurses to do the rape kit examination for the purpose of collecting evidence. The Rape Response Advocate is a trained volunteer who is available, upon request through the Crisis Line, to meet rape victims at the Rape Crisis Center or hospital emergency room. They provide the victim and their family with support, information and appropriate referral for additional services. If requested, an Advocate can accompany the person who was sexually assaulted to court, provide support and information during the legal proceedings. are subject to the availability of volunteers.) Biliterate Sexual Violence Response Specialists are available at the Rape Crisis Center to provide advocacy, support, information and referral, follow up and court advocacy to Spanish speaking individuals who have been victimized by sexual violence. Court Advocacy
WRC began to offer court advocacy to victims of domestic violence in January of 1997. Staff and volunteers provide support and information about the proper use of the legal system, primarily the VPO (Victims Protective Order). Victims will also be given information to help in decision making regarding the lethality of the situation, as well as steps that may be taken to keep them and their children safe.

UPDATE: This turned out to be a wonderful event. Three shopping carts full of needed supplies. We'll be here next Friday to help out. Hope to see you then.

WRC is out in force helping to "Fill the Bus" for the Moore Public Schools Teachers Closet. If you're coming out to the Super Walmart on 19th, stop by and say Hi. If you can help with donating supplies or dollars to support this cause, that would be much appreciated.
