What a great way to wrap up the school year!

On the last day of school, Chief Steve Petrilli and Officer Evans had the honor of visiting Chiddix Junior High at the request of a graduating 8th-grade student. The special visit became even more memorable as Officers and staff from several local law enforcement agencies joined together to help celebrate this milestone.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with students and be a positive part of their school experience. Congratulations to all of the graduates as they prepare for the next chapter of their educational journey!

As another school year comes to a close, the Normal Police Department wishes all students, families, teachers, and staff a fun, relaxing, and most importantly, safe summer. We look forward to seeing everyone back in the fall!

Today, the Normal Police Department pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer — it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy each day. We are forever thankful for their courage, dedication, and selfless service.

As we gather with family and friends this weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

From all of us at the Normal Police Department, we thank and honor those who paid the ultimate price for our nation. 🇺🇸

At the Normal Police Department, community engagement is more than just something we do — it’s one of our core values. Building positive relationships and creating meaningful connections with our community helps strengthen trust and makes Normal a better place for everyone.

Recently, we were blessed with the opportunity to provide a ride to school for two amazing students at Trinity Lutheran School. Moments like these remind us how impactful even small interactions can be and why we are proud to serve this incredible community each and every day.

Officer Bachman and Officer Parks recently had the opportunity to attend The Miracle League of Central Illinois baseball games, and it was an incredible experience.

From helping athletes at the plate to cheering on big hits and celebrating smiles, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect with these amazing athletes, their families, and our community. Events like these remind us what community engagement is all about — building relationships, making memories, and supporting one another both on and off the field.

Thank you to the Miracle League of Central Illinois for allowing us to be a part of such a special day.

A HUGE thank you to our amazing community for once again showing up in a big way for Special Olympics Illinois during our Dunkin’ Cop on a Rooftop event!

Because of your generosity, the Normal Police Department raised an incredible $7,181 to support the athletes of Special Olympics through the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

Even more impressive, law enforcement agencies across Illinois raised over $1.25 million statewide to help provide opportunities, training, competitions, and unforgettable experiences for these inspiring athletes.

Whether you stopped by to donate, grabbed a coffee, honked your horn, or simply helped spread the word — THANK YOU. Events like this remind us just how strong and supportive the Normal community truly is.

We are proud to stand alongside our athletes, our community, and our fellow law enforcement agencies in supporting such an incredible cause.

Today, the Normal Police Department joins communities across the nation in observing National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

We pause to honor and remember the brave law enforcement Officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, as well as those who suffered career-ending injuries while protecting and serving others. Their courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to their communities will never be forgotten.

This day serves as a reminder of the risks Officers face each day and the sacrifices made not only by them, but also by their families, friends, and fellow Officers.

At NPD, our core values of Integrity, Wellness, Engagement, and Professionalism continue to guide us as we carry forward the legacy of those who came before us.

Today, we remember the fallen, honor the injured, and stand alongside all those who continue to serve.
