Our next staff spotlight is Carolyn, our Care Receiver Coordinator!

Carolyn Wetzel began her second tour of duty with Faith in Action in 2022. She served for over three years starting in 2012 as Faith in Action’s first Volunteer Coordinator. After retiring from the Area Agency on Aging, she returned as FIA’s Care Receiver Coordinator. She coordinates the onboarding of new care receivers as well as the ongoing surveying of care receivers. She is in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. When not at the office, she enjoys playing violin in a local orchestra and playing board games and pickleball with her family.

Our next 20 Over 60 honoree is Julie Dobski!

Julie is a dynamic community leader whose heart of gold shines through everything she does. As a founder of the newly formed Thrive Rotary, she brings a genuine, grounded, and generous spirit to every part of her life. She is the kind of person who shows up for anyone, anytime, and her willingness to share her time, talent, and resources has made a lasting impact across McLean County.
Accomplished and inspiring, Julie radiates vitality, confidence, and a true zest for life. She leads with intention, lifts up the people around her, and brings resilience, wisdom, and authenticity to every role she takes on. Guided by her motto “Live, Laugh, Love,” she pours her care into her family, her friends, and her community. She is proud to have built a thriving business, supported a strong and loyal team, created opportunities for others, and passed on the value of service to the next generation of her family.
Her philanthropic reach is wide, supporting organizations such as The Baby Fold, the Children’s Discovery Museum, the YMCA, Illinois State University, and many more. For more than 25 years, she and a dedicated group of friends have served monthly dinners at Safe Harbor. She also quietly helps countless individuals in need, never seeking attention or praise. Her leadership and impact have earned honors including the McLean County Chamber Athena Award, the Legacy of Excellence Award, and an Honorary Doctorate from Illinois State University. She truly deserving of this recognition.

Betty Connour is our next 20 Over 60 Honoree.

Betty is a shining example of dedication and service in our community. Every Monday, she volunteers at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, helping distribute food to 80–100 visitors at the walk-up table. Rain, snow, or heat—she never misses a day. She also goes to the pantry every Friday morning to sort and pack food for the week ahead, making sure each family is welcomed with dignity and care.
Her commitment reaches far beyond the pantry. Betty serves as Treasurer of the Central Catholic Foundation, faithfully collecting and recording donations that support its mission. Her generosity is just as strong in her family life. Last fall, she spent countless hours helping her daughter and son-in-law with their bean harvest—even learning to operate the large combine.
Betty is also a devoted member of St. Mary’s Church, where she participates in and supports many parish activities. Her steady presence, humble spirit, and willingness to serve make her a true blessing to everyone who knows her.
She lives by the words of Mother Teresa: “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” Betty embodies that truth every single day.
