Meet our content expert, Dr. David Mitchell!

David A. Mitchell, PhD, began working for the State of Nebraska as a clinical psychology intern at the Norfolk Regional Center in 2009. After completing his internship, he remained on staff at NRC as a psychologist for several years. He left state employment in 2018 to pursue private practice but returned to NRC as the Director of the Psychology Department in 2021.

Dr. Mitchell's session covers how risk is determined among adults who have sexually offended and how current treatment approaches for adult males focuses on the assumption that human behavior, including sexual behavior, is learned and treatment of sexual deviance and paraphilias requires the learning of responsible social and sexual behavior to substitute for the harmful behavior leading to sexual offenses.

We are excited to have him at our 2026 Northeast Family Violence Summit on October 20-21! There is still time to register by visiting https://ow.ly/6sq150ZRrbw.
