We're proud to recognize the next two women who are part of our Women United 20th 10 for 10 Class, Shannon Kelly & Peggy Layne ✨

Shannon serves as President & CEO of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, executing their mission to be a transformative cultural resource for the region. Shannon has been part of Women United since 2024.

Peggy is a "professional volunteer". After a 40-year career with Dominion Energy, she now dedicated her time to make her community a better place to live. She joined Women United in 2021, is a 10-for-10 Council member, and helped to produce this year's Pitch for a Purpose event.

Our community is the backbone of our work... because of that, we wanted to express our gratitude for our partnership with Burns & McDonnell 👏

Building strong partnerships is about more than workplace campaigns, it’s about connecting with employees, engaging teams, sharing our mission, and having a little fun along the way ✨

Thank you, Burns & McDonnell, for welcoming us and helping us make a difference in our community together.

In honor of Women United’s 20th 10 for 10 Class, 24 women stepped up to be part of a special Anniversary Class. Their support was invested between the Women United Endowment Fund and Pitch for a Purpose ✨

Since its launch in 2006, the 10 for 10 program continues to inspire women throughout our community to become impactful philanthropists. Traditionally, ten women each commit $10,000 directly supporting the Women United Endowment Fund.

We'd like to give a special shoutout to Terrie Edwards and Vicky Gray for committing to advancing solutions that empower women to transform lives 👏 Terrie has been involved with our organization since 2008, and also served on the Women United Global Leadership Council. Vicky has been a dedicated volunteer for over 40 years, recently completing a six-year term on the Women United Board.

Women from across South Hampton Roads came together for "Her Service. Her Story," hosted by America's Warrior Partnership ♥️ We were grateful to provide the space - both mentally, and physically - for this event.

Over dinner, stories, experiences, and perspectives, attendees shared what it means to navigate life and resources as a woman veteran in our community.

We know women veterans can face unique challenges and barriers - it's understanding and listening to those experiences that shapes the future and keeps the conversation going 💪

The conversation doesn't end here. If your organization supports women veterans in the South Hampton Roads community, and you'd like to join us for future events, please visit https://bit.ly/3UnqgsZ.
