As our Squadron continues to support logistics around the world, we are fortunate to soon welcome two detachments back to Norfolk. With the return of each deployment, we make single Sailor bags to welcome our fellow Rawhides and help them meet some of their immediate needs after returning home. We’d appreciate your support as we welcome these hard working men and women home!

Today VRC-40 departed Iwakuni on their final FDNF deployment as they contribute to a free and open U.S. Indo-Pacific Command!

As the Navy’s only C-2 Greyhound squadron, the Norfolk-based Rawhides had to pivot from a downshift in operations to an unprecedented demand following the V-22 osprey stand-down.

HG Rawhides finished up logistics operations with the USS Harry S. Truman this weekend. Another successful underway of VRC-40 providing high priority parts and personnel to a Carrier at sea.

However, things continue to move forward for the Rawhides. Det 2 “Scavengers” have officially stood up and are getting ready to hit the road for San Diego. This will make 4 simultaneous detachments for VRC-40.

On Saturday, the VRC-40 First Class Petty Officer’s Association and our Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions (CSADD) hosted an event to honor the month of the military child. Families were invited to tour shops, learn about survival gear, see the aircraft, and get a better sense of how their Sailors contribute to our mission of delivering readiness to the fleet. Thank you FCPOA and CSADD!
