VAYD stands firmly against the Trump Administration’s illegal war in Iran. Read our full statement below.

“The Virginia Young Democrats (“VAYD”) condemns and rejects the illegal and unprovoked attacks being carried out by the Trump Administration on the country of Iran.
These attacks unequivocally violate the U.S. Constitution, the War Powers Act, and fundamental precepts of international law.
Even the failed Iraq War, which was made possible through Republican lies about weapons of mass destruction and the failure of Democratic leadership to stand up to warmongering, was authorized by Congress. Now, the Trump Administration seeks to unilaterally begin yet another forever war in the Middle East, which has already claimed the lives of civilians and service members.
The American people do not want, and their representatives have not authorized, another war.
Democrats must learn from history and speak out against this latest power grab by an unchecked President. VAYD calls on all elected leaders to uphold the Constitution, stand with the American people, and do everything possible to end this illegal, pointless war.”

Thank you for your willingness to run and for giving us an option here in Southwest Virginia, Josh Outsey for Delegate HD-45!

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who supported me throughout this campaign. While I did not win, Delegate Terry Kilgore will continue to represent the 45th District in Southwest Virginia. I offer him my congratulations on his re-election and wish him success in serving our community.
Running for office for the first time, outside of high school, has been an incredible experience. I am deeply moved by the encouragement and support I received. Hearing from community members about the hope they felt, and knowing that many people who hadn’t voted in years decided to cast their ballot for me, truly warmed my heart.
This campaign has reaffirmed my belief in the strength and spirit of our community. I am proud of what we accomplished together, and I look forward to staying involved and running again in the near future.
Thank you to everyone who came out to vote, whether early or on Election Day, and to all who continue to believe in a brighter future for Southwest Virginia.
