Norfolk Fire would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the DWI drill for Norwood-Norfolk high school. We were fortunate to have the support of our dedicated members, Norfolk rescue squad, Norwood Fire, Norfolk PD, Norwood PD and some incredibly talented students as patients.

The consequences of drinking and driving were on full display, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of responsible choices.

Please remember that we are passionate about serving our community and would like to encourage individuals to make informed decisions.

Stay safe everyone!

Monday night we proudly welcomed our new R60 to the fire house with a symbolic "push in" ceremony, marking the official entry of the vehicle into service, a time-honored tradition that embodies teamwork, community connection and respect for history, as firefighters manually push the new fire apparatus into its station bay for the first time, a moment that originated from the Horse-Drawn Era, where horses couldn't easily back the heavy, steerable steamers into the firehouse after returning from a fire, and now serves as a powerful reminder of our commitment to serving and protecting our community with courage, honor and pride.

Norfolk Fire would like to remind the public that the New York State spring burn ban is currently in effect, with the restriction remaining in place until May 14, 2026.

The ban is designed to prevent wildfires during the spring season, which is characterized by dry, windy, and high-fire-risk conditions.

Despite the emerging greenery, a substantial amount of dead grass and leaves still poses a fire hazard.

Additional information on the ban can be found at the following link:

Open burning is the single greatest cause of wildfires in NYS. Since the spring burn ban was implemented in 2009, the number of wildfires has decreased by more than 40%.

When you spring forward for Daylight Saving Time March 8, 2026, its the perfect excuse to ditch those ancient batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors because who wants to be a hot mess when it comes to safety, right? Replaceable batteries should be swapped out at least once a year, while checking that units arent older than 10 years.
