Dear FLC Norfolk Family,

Due to my husband's retirement, I will be resigning as your Command Family Ombudsman effective March 31, 2013.

In that vain, FLC Norfolk is looking for a replacement Ombudsman. If you are interested in becoming the new Ombudsman, please let me know as soon as possible. I am willing to assist in training, if needed.

Subject: Want a fulfilling internship working with children and teens?

The Military Extension Internship Program will accept applications for Summer 2013 from now until January 31, 2013. Please check in the FAQs for future application deadlines. Application materials are available under the Applicants tab at http://www.ydae.purdue.edu/military/index.html

Interns receive a broad range of experiences during their 10 to 15 week internship. Interns will work directly with children and youth by creating and implementing age appropriate curricula and programs. They will also learn about the management of child and youth centers, including financial and budgeting skillls. Interns enjoy this unique internship opportunity and gain valuable professional skills that will help them in their future careers.

JEB Fort Story November 29 - December 3.
Nov 29 - Dec 1 Only Junior enlisted, families dealing with hardships, and spouses of deployed (must have orders) may receive a tree.
Dec 3 Open 11am - 5:30pm daily until all trees are gone. Any rank military ID card holder may receive a tree (limit one per household).
*Self serve, please bring your own supplies.

Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation is now accepting pre-qualification forms for its scholarships. WOASF, a 501(c) (3) non-profit foundation, annually sponsors more than forty scholarships ranging from $2000- $10,000 to students who have chosen to pursue their undergraduate college education. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of scholastic merit, community service and extracurricular activities.

Our mission is to provide college scholarships to dependent children and spouses of US Navy personnel having served in Naval Aviation commands (Carriers, Wings, Squadrons); Officer and Enlisted, active duty, retired, honorably discharged or deceased.

Scholarship Foundation, was established in 1987. Our mission is to provide college scholarships to dependent children and spouses of all US Navy Personnel- officer and enlisted - active duty, retired, honorably discharged or deceased who served within Naval Air Forces. Recipients are selected on the basis of scholastic merit and community service. Wings over America annually sponsors over forty scholarships to students who have chosen to continue their education. The foundation is funded solely through the generous contributions of private and corporate sources, and has proudly awarded over $640,000 to outstanding students since 1987

Operation Homefront has announced that nominations for the Military Child of the Year Awards are being accepted online at http://www.militarychildoftheyear.org/ through December 15, 2012. Winners will be recognized in April 2013.

Operation Homefront has created the Homes on the Homefront program through a new partnership with Chase Bank.
