During a recent NAVSUP FLC Norfolk Navy Food Management Team visit aboard USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), Culinary Specialist 1st Class William Collins led hands-on training focused on croissants and other baked products made from scratch. Working side-by-side with the ship’s culinary specialists, he demonstrated techniques for preparing, rolling, shaping, proofing and baking dough products.
Training like this builds more than baking skills—it strengthens teamwork, attention to detail, time management, and pride in workmanship. Opportunities like these help CSs grow their craft while delivering something the crew can enjoy while having pride in saying, “we made that from scratch.”
