We had a blast at Read Aloud Norfolk's Children's Day Festival yesterday! These impressively stacked cup towers got kids tickets to trade in for stacks of books. An amazing event all around!

We had an awesome time at Traditions this year! Thank you to all of the sponsors, volunteers, educators, staff, and students who helped make the event a success.

From the Classroom Grants and Foundation Programs showcase to the Culinary Career Academy's excellent spread to the Senior High Chamber Orchestra's performance, Traditions had something for everyone!

There is a lot to be proud of at Norfolk Public Schools, and the Foundation is honored to be a part of this important community!

Our friends at McMill CPAs & Advisors sponsored an excellent Classroom Grant at Grant Elementary! This Science of Reading project focused on encouraging strong beginning reading skills with decodable readers. Reading comprehension is important, and these tools help kids succeed!

Thank you Chesterman Co. Coca-Cola for sponsoring our Panther Partners Classroom Grant! The program, which pairs Senior High students with Elementary kids to encourage and mentor them, has continued to grow. This is an awesome way for young students to have fun while building self-esteem, social skills, and relationship skills!

Shout out to Rasmussen Mechanical Services, who sponsored this Classroom Grant at Bel Air Elementary! Versa-tiles for Versatile Learners provided hands-on materials to help educators meet the individualized needs of students, encouraging practice and inspiring confidence.

Our partners at CalmWater Financial Group helped fund Humans, Hamsters, and String Beans at Grant Elementary! This One School One Book initiative provided kids (humans) with an excellent book (about a hamster) to read at home and learn more about in school, as well as an awesome schoolwide assembly (featuring The String Beans band) connecting literacy and music. Fun!

Thank you to long-time supporters Dr. David and Heidi Merritt for their sponsorship of this Calming Comforts for Littles project at Woodland Park Elementary School! This Classroom Grant helped students have access to materials to help calm down and refocus during stressful moments.

Our partners at Insight Financial Planning helped some great kids at Bel Air Elementary by funding this Accessing My Library project. These Creating Language Experience books use real objects and symbols that students have encountered, providing a meaningful way for kids to retell a story and identify characters or settings.

A big shoutout to Daycos, who helped sponsor the Build Brilliant Learners project in two kindergarten classrooms at Washington Elementary! This Classroom Grant helped kids expand their creativity by exploring shapes and constructing awesome structures with magnetic tiles.
