This morning, the NEBRASKAland Foundation presented the 2025 Rising Star Award to the North Fork River Front!

The award recognizes exceptional tourism attractions that strengthen Nebraska’s economy and embody the spirit of the Good Life. The North Fork River Front truly reflects that vision—creating memorable experiences and enhancing quality of life across Norfolk and Northeast Nebraska.

Maintenance and inspection work on the river system has been completed, and the gates have been reopened as scheduled. Water flow has resumed, and the Whitewater Park is now open to the public. 🌊

Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding while we completed this necessary work to keep the river safe and functioning properly.

Due to a possible obstruction in the system, the City of Norfolk will temporarily shut off river flow beginning at 8:00 p.m. this evening to allow for maintenance and inspection.

The Whitewater Park will be closed during this time for public safety. Gates are scheduled to reopen at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Water levels are expected to return to normal operations by noon on Friday, August 8.

We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety and functionality of our river system.

🌊 Whitewater Update! 🌊

We've had a wetter-than-usual season, but thanks to our adjustable control gates, the flow at the park is still within our safe operating range — and the whitewater fun continues! Whether you're into kayaking, river surfing, or tubing, the current is strong and ready for adventure. 💪

That said, flow levels are on the higher end of our range right now, so please:
✅ Know your limits
✅ Respect the river
✅ Wear a life jacket — always (it's required!)

Come out and enjoy the rush — safely! See you on the water! 🌊🚣‍♂️🏄‍♀️🛟
