It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of Lauri Smalley’s mom’s passing. We have sent something from the class. Please keep the Miller family and friends in your prayers.
As always you can call and add money to the class account at Nokomis Gift and Garden at any time. You can also mail them a check. Just let them know or make note that it is for the NHS Class of 1992 account.

Linda Sue (Barr) Miller, 74, of Nokomis, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, at her home of 48 years, surrounded by her family. Per Linda’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, at First Baptist Church of Nokomis. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow.
Linda was born November 30, 1949, in Pana, IL, to Walter and Mary Alice (Wallar) Barr. She has three sisters, Kelly (Ron) Walker, of Peoria, Carla (Kurt Blazer) Oller, of Decatur, and Jackie (David) Rakers, of Ohlman. She married Ronald L. Miller on December 7, 1968. Ron and Linda lived in Taylorville, Pana, and then moved to Nokomis in 1976 and shortly thereafter started their family.
Together, Ron and Linda raised four daughters, Angie (Randy) Gross, of Nokomis, Amy (Keith) Thrasher, of Taylorville, Lauri (Michael) Smalley, of Nokomis, and Lisa (Clifton) Miller, of Beecher City. She has nine grandchildren, Corey (Brett) Gross, Caleb (Brooke) Gross, Cameron (Megan) Gross, Lucas Smalley, Mason Stewart, Jordan Smalley, Milana Henson, Ellison Miller, and Isaac Miller. She has 6 great-grandchildren, Logan, Blakely, Layton, Graham, Lucy, and Brinlea Gross. Family dinners always included a little bit of chaos and a lot of love.
She wore many hats during her lifetime, but, first and foremost, she was a loving mother and grandmother, wonderful wife, and beautiful friend. She was a homemaker, but also held several jobs inside and outside of the home. She owned and operated her own cake and catering business, Cake Creations, and her favorite job outside of the home was being a breakfast cook for the Nokomis Unit schools. She was a very talented artist, was an amazing seamstress, and, most of all, liked having a good time no matter what she was doing. She will be incredibly
missed.
Linda is survived by her husband, sisters, children, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Alice Barr.
Memorials can be directed to the American Heart Association, in honor of her grandson Corey Gross.
Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home of Nokomis is assisting the family with arrangements.
