In-Person Recording: New Requirements
During the most recent legislative session, Senate Bill 1479 passed and was signed into law. This bill was presented with the security of Arizona residents in mind and is intended to prevent title fraud. Effective September 11th, 2026, all customers will be required to provide a valid form of photo identification for any in-person recordings per A.R.S. § 11-472. This information will be logged into a receipt and will remain confidential.
As an additional resource, the Santa Cruz County Recorder’s Office continues to offer Recording Notification Service. This is a free alert system that notifies you if any document is recorded with a name or business you enter on the account. This system is available online at: https://www.santacruzcountyaz.gov/287/Recorder on the left side of links in alphabetical order.
We understand this will add a few steps to our current recording procedures, so we appreciate your cooperation and patience as we navigate through this newly adopted process.
The County Recorder retains all important documents, records, maps, and surveys.
