Well... It's raining quite a bit and that means waterfalls and lots of dripping in the cave for the next couple of days.💧🌂 This is heading back from the fountain of youth. Wear your water shoes.

Happy National Caves & Karst Day! 🦇
Most people think of caves as just dark holes in the ground. But karst landscapes — the porous limestone that forms caves like ours — are responsible for 25% of the world's fresh groundwater.
At Bluff Dwellers, that limestone has been doing its work for over 300 million years.
At the deepest part of the tour, surrounded by ancient fossils, you can actually feel water that's been filtered through hundreds of feet of rock. What you see on every tour — the draperies, the rimstone dam, Crystal Lake — is what happens when water, minerals, and time get to work uninterrupted.

Behind Lauren is Crystal Lake — home to a 75-foot rimstone dam, one of the longest in any of Missouri's 7,000+ caves.
But that's not even the most remarkable thing about it.
At the bottom of that lake, you can still see the footprints of Arthur Browning, the man who discovered this cave in the 1920s.
As Lauren tells every tour: "Those footprints are older than the footprints on the moon. 🌕"

Do you see the cave alien? Maybe a wizard? Bluff Dwellers Cave is open rain or shine. Open 10am to 6pm but the last tour starts at 5pm. One hour guided tour starts about every 30 minutes.

Are you a student looking for a cool summer job? Are you retired and looking for a way to engage with others?
This is a seasonal position for the summer with rehire potential for next summer. Your primary goal would be giving guided tours. You may also be expected to do some some basic cleaning, stocking and cashiering. We offer training and flexible scheduling but looking for individuals willing to work weekends.
