Members of Hamilton County Fire Fighters Local 4416 from the Westfield Fire Department were recently reunited with a cardiac arrest survivor from last summer.
A bicyclist suffered sudden cardiac arrest while riding through Cool Creek Park in Westfield. A bystander recognized the emergency, called 911, and immediately began CPR under a dispatcher's guidance until first responders arrived. Westfield Fire Fighters Local 4416 members arrived on scene quickly and provided advanced life support care, helping the patient have the best possible chance of survival and recovery.
Because of the fast response from the bystander, dispatcher, fire fighters, paramedics, and hospital staff, the patient survived and has made a remarkable recovery.
This powerful reunion is a reminder that anyone can help save a life. Hands-only CPR is easy to learn and can make a critical difference during a cardiac emergency. Consider taking a hands-only CPR class and be ready to help when every second counts.
