This just goes to show that just like a fully staffed city department, no single station / department can handle a structure fire alone. We have all relied on our mutual aid for support, and lots of times we are the mutual aid that others are relying on.

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Pauley passed away this morning.

There aren’t enough words to fully explain what he meant to this department, his family, and this community. Pauley wasn’t loud about what he did, but he was the kind of man who showed up, held things together, and carried more than most people ever realized.

He was the glue. The steady hand. The one people leaned on.

Our hearts are with Debby, Dia, and all of his loved ones during this unimaginable time. We ask that you keep them, and all of us who were lucky enough to know him, in your thoughts and prayers.

Out of respect for Pauley and his family, bingo will remain canceled this Friday.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.

Lord, thank you for being with us right now. We confess that we don’t understand why things happen the way they do. We don’t understand why illness comes into our lives, but we do know that you walk every path of life with us. Remind Pauley that you are walking with him right now. Remind him that you love him, no matter what he is going through. We pray for Pauley’s family. Give them your strength as they care for him. God, we thank you that you never leave us, that you never forsake us, but you love us. We trust you, and pray this in your name. Amen.”

Tonight we paid respect to 2 of our own for outstanding careers and service to HTVFD. Firefighter and secretary Terry Lackey retiring after 28 yrs of service and Chief Arlan Pierce for 32 yrs as chief and 40+ yrs of service. Thank you both for always leading by example and sacrificing your time and talent for the betterment of the community. You will always be family here. You will surely still see them volunteering just in a different capacity.
