What a great Lunch and Learn we held on Wednesday presented by David Shier with Peerless Technologies ! From David's insightful stories about entrepreneurship to the delicious offerings from Apothica Teas, chamber members left the event with inspiration and valuable connections.

David Shier is a testament to the power of hard work, skilled trades, and entrepreneurial vision. With 23 years in the trades, David began his journey as a one-man operation with just a van and a dream. In 2012, he founded his own electrical contracting company, building it from the ground up with the expertise gained from his associate degree at KVCC and his national electrical apprenticeship certification.

Today, as a master electrician, David's vision has expanded far beyond that single van. Together with his wife and their four children, the Shier family has built seven diverse companies spanning energy electrical contracting, energy sustainability, consulting, IT, real estate, and even hobby farming. What started as one man's determination has grown into a family enterprise that now employs 41 people and serves multiple sectors of our local economy.

Thank you, David, for sharing your experiences, lessons learned, and practical advice for business success. Monthly events like these provide meaningful opportunities for our members to learn from one another, strengthen professional relationships, and continue growing together.

We were proud to support Brandywine Community Schools in celebrating the groundbreaking of its new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center — an exciting investment in the future workforce of Southwest Michigan.

This new facility will provide expanded opportunities for students pursuing careers in skilled trades and technical fields. The center will house Brandywine’s Machine Tool, Automotive, Cabinet Making, and Millwork programs, serving students from Brandywine, Buchanan, Niles, Berrien Springs, and River Valley.

This project represents a commitment to workforce development, hands-on learning, and preparing the next generation with the skills needed to succeed in high-demand careers. We look forward to seeing the impact this investment will have for years to come!
