Shout out to Walmart!

Your NTFD was on-site for their grand reopening last Friday. We got to connect with many of you, showing off the engines and other equipment. We are especially thankful for the generous gift Walmart made, supporting Your NTFD: a $3,000 donation!

A May 15, 2026, article in the Niles Star noted that, according to 2024 data, Niles Township ranked 18th in Michigan for car crashes, with 365 per 10,000 residents. While we hope our road safety improves, the report is a stark reminder of why YOUR Niles area firefighters regularly train to respond to such incidents.

Niles Township first-line engines are multipurpose, and our firefighters are multidisciplined. Engines 1421 and 1422 both carry equipment for fire suppression and for rescue, including motor vehicle crashes. One of the photos gives a glimpse of some of the equipment carried on Engine 1422 for vehicle stabilization and extrication. The other photo shows a vehicle crash training event where Niles Township and Niles City Fire Departments trained together with one car on its side and another resting on a third car.

The Niles Township Firefighter Association recently performed a magic trick with the help of our community: they turned pancakes into water rescue equipment! Because of YOUR support, money raised from pancake breakfasts, address signs, and challenge coins, the Association purchased 12 sets of gear, each including a helmet, a life vest, and a rope throw-bag.

Thanks to everyone who serves with Niles Township Fireifghter Association and to the great community we serve!
