A very big THANK YOU to Ice Mountain Water and Flame Decon Soap!
Ice Mountain donated 78 cases of bottled water for us to stay hydrated on our fire scenes, this is a critical part of keeping our members safe and healthy.
We are enjoying the supply of Flame Natural Decon Soap for Firefighters provided to us for free by the Flame Decon company. This natural soap helps to remove some of the dangerous chemicals and carcinogens firefighters encounter during a fire. Please support them by visiting flamedecon.com.

Congratulations to the Niles High School class of 2026!! We all are excited to see what this next chapter in life brings to you. Another year for Project Graduation in the books! We are very grateful to all the volunteers that make PG successful. Howard Township firefighters would like to personally thank everyone who came out Friday morning and helped us serve our kids and those who stayed and helped clean up, what a help that was! We look forward to serving our kids next year! Thank you all for your continued support!!

Project Graduation Update:

There was a slight delay at the kickoff to their activities. The graduating class is now expected to arrive at the fire department approximately 5:30, which will put the precession back to the high school at roughly 6:00am.

The procession route will be from FD, down Lakeshore Drive, cross over Huntly to Almaugus, to Yankee, Yankee to 17th, to Eagle, and into the high school parking lot.

We’re receiving an amazing amount of offers for help tomrrow morning for project graduation and we thank you all! We want to remind everyone, please park across the street at the old Stop In as we will need to have room for the school buses, fire trucks, and for our firefighters to park around the station. If you need to park closer for any reason, message us privately and we will accommodate you. Thank you!! 🚒

Niles High School graduating class of 2026 Project Graduation will be making their last stop for the night at Howard Township fire station as they have for over 25 years! I brought it up at the last Township board meeting that we could use some help this year serving these wonderful kids pancakes and sausage before they head back to the high school and start their journey in life. 😭
We are opening the offer up to anyone who may be available this Friday morning, approximately 5am is when the busses typically arrive. If you would like to help and experience this awesome, chaotic display and help us get these kids served, we would appreciate that very much. If you know you’re going to help, please feel free to make a comment here. If you’re unsure, no problem, just show up at 05:00 and we’ll put you to work. Let’s support this great organization Project Graduation and support our Niles High School Seniors! Thank you!

On Sunday 5/17/26 just before 9pm, Howard Township Fire Department was dispatched for a motorcycle accident with injuries on M-60 near Lilac Ave. One motorcyclist, who was the sole rider, sadly was pronounced deceased at the scene. Fire units remained on scene controlling traffic during the accident investigation.

June 15th at 7:00pm Howard Township Firefighters will be hosting a Q&A at the fire station.
We have information we want to share with you and we want to hear your questions and concerns. Come get real, 100% factual information about all aspects of our department operations and get honest, direct, and factual answers to your questions. This will give all residents the opportunity to see and hear where a portion of your tax dollars are going and the funding it takes to keep this department running at the level the residents expect and deserve. We hope to see you there! Coffee and light refreshments will be served. Please share.

This morning just before 8am, Howard Township Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment near the 1000 block of Anderson Road. Fire units arrived on scene to a two-vehicle accident. One vehicle was in the roadway with front end damage, the occupant of this vehicle was uninjured. One vehicle was found with heavy front and driver’s side damage, regrettably the occupant of this vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene from their injuries. Firefighters remained at the scene through the morning to control traffic and assist with police accident investigation. Thanks to Niles Charter Township Fire Department, Southwest Michigan Community Ambulance Service, and Precision Towing for their assistance.
