π₯ HIGH HEAT INDEX ALERT π₯
Temperatures are rising, and the heat index is expected to reach dangerous levels over the next several days. When high humidity combines with hot temperatures, it can make it feel much hotter than the actual air temperature and increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
βοΈ Stay Safe:
β
Drink plenty of water throughout the day
β
Limit outdoor activities during the hottest hours (10 AM β 6 PM)
β
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
β
Take frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas
β
Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles
β
Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and those without reliable cooling
β οΈ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion:
β’ Heavy sweating
β’ Dizziness
β’ Nausea
β’ Headache
β’ Weakness or fatigue
If symptoms worsen or a person becomes confused, loses consciousness, or stops sweating, call 911 immediately. These may be signs of heat stroke, a life-threatening emergency.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another during this period of extreme heat.
