This Sunday, the Health Cabinet will again be sponsoring a Blood Drive on Sunday, April 26 from 9:00am - 2:00pm here at Salem. It is also is a Food Drive event, so bring a donation if you are able to!

Effective immediately, the State of Nebraska has issued an Executive Order banning all Open Burn Permits for the next 14 days.

During this time, no burn permits can be issued for any purpose, and any previously issued permits that have not yet been completed are now null and void. Open burning is not allowed during this period.

🚨Controlled Burn Notice-February 1st, 2026🚨

The Nickerson Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting a controlled burn on Hwy 77, directly east of Larsen International.

This training exercise is an important part of firefighter preparedness and safety. During the burn:
🔥 Please avoid the area for your safety and to allow emergency personnel to work without obstruction.
🚧 Expect limited access near the site.
🌬️ Smoke may be visible in surrounding neighborhoods—those with respiratory conditions should take precautions.
👀 While we appreciate community interest, spectators are strongly discouraged for safety reasons.
